Empowered women embrace their grit, grace, and glam
She’s self-aware, confident, and committed to self-care, inspiring others through her actions and mindset.
As I think about my life, my girlfriends’ lives, and the lives of all the incredible women in my community, I see that being an empowered woman over 50 is a recipe baked with resilience, continuous learning and goal-setting, emotional intelligence, grace, and unshakeable self-confidence. These qualities—such as authenticity, resilience, integrity, and independence—define empowered women and shape their strong-willed strength, leadership, and classy demeanor.
Empowered women are powerful but not power-hungry. Empowered women often challenge the expectations of society and do not simply conform to the status quo. We are strong without being domineering. We are assertive but never aggressive, and we know who we are.
Empowered Women are Resilient and Adaptable
In my opinion, resilience is at the heart of empowerment. Empowered women strive for growth and are not afraid to take on a new challenge, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones. They actively seek out challenging situations, knowing that embracing the challenging aspects of life leads to personal growth and greater empowerment.
Facing life’s valleys and hills with grace and bouncing back stronger than ever is the key to feeling empowered. But enduring hard things and coming through it stronger is only the first part of the equation. You must also adapt.
I remember when I first embraced new technology to manage my online business and stay connected with my team. We started using Slack to communicate. Maybe you are familiar with this software?
It wasn’t easy to learn the new platform and there were some bumps along the way, but being able to communicate quickly with my whole team was a game-changer. An empowered woman strives to overcome new challenges and is not afraid to face her fear of the unknown. Like it or not, adapting to change keeps us relevant and thriving in a fast-paced world. An empowered woman embraces innovation and change, and she adapts with grace. She is always striving to develop and is not afraid to challenge herself, continually developing new skills and perspectives.
Knowledge is Power for the Empowered Woman
If you want to be an empowered woman, you must be a lifelong learner and dreamer. Whether you’re starting a new business later in life or picking up a new hobby, staying curious will keep you vibrant and dreaming will keep you curious. Empowered women take their learning into their own hands and are always developing new skills to achieve success.
Take, for example, navigating a mid-life career change. It can be daunting! It’s also a chance to reinvent yourself and learn new skills. This process is essential for personal growth and helps women become their best selves. Remember, empowerment and meaningful change don’t happen overnight; it takes time, effort, and patience to see real progress. Give yourself permission and space to daydream. Then set goals to accomplish your dreams. Embracing new knowledge and experiences will set you apart as an empowered woman over 50. Celebrating your successes and the success of others is an important part of the journey to achieve your goals and become your best self.
Emotional Intelligence and Strong Relationships
What is emotional intelligence? Darling, it’s about being smart with your emotions—understanding them, regulating them, and using them to connect well with those around you. An empowered woman understands her feelings and uses her self-awareness to build meaningful relationships based on shared values.
I’ve learned the importance of nurturing my tapestry of relationships whether the connection is my family, girlfriend, or a business relationships. Knowing how to have a successful heart-to-heart can save a relationship. An empowered woman sets healthy boundaries to protect her emotional well-being in all her relationships. Relationships provide support and love, and we all need them.
An empowered woman is not a lone wolf. She is a matriarch to many. She is aspirational, empathetic, intuitive, and a connector.
An empowered woman knows the importance of relationships. These connections help her feel empowered and give meaning to her life.

Empowered Women Radiate Inner Beauty
When you meet an empowered woman, you will feel her strength. Empowered women radiate self-confidence and embrace their inner beauty. Self love and self respect are foundational to feeling worthy and comfortable in your own body. I have unshakeable self-confidence and it comes from knowing my worth and feeling comfortable in my own skin. A woman’s inner beauty will shine through when she has a positive attitude towards life. Showing respect for yourself and others helps you feel good and radiate confidence. Empowered women live authentically and pursue fulfillment in their own life, aligning their actions with their true values.
Outer Style and Grace
I think an empowered woman is also visible by her outer presence. Having confidence to express your personal style with confidence and poise is a trait of an empowered woman. Developing your own style is a powerful way of creating a unique presence that reflects your individuality. There isn’t a “right” style or fashion statement. There isn’t a certain accessory that empowered women wear (but a nice watch never hurts!) Empowered women have the confidence to wear what makes them tick and their inner beauty gives it wings. They are always developing and continue to develop their personal style over time. Darling, trust me, confidence and meaningful inner beauty are what make women shine, regardless of age.
Powerful, Not Power Hungry
Empowerment and power hunger are often confused, but they are totally different. An empowered woman is secure in her own strength because she knows herself. She uses her power to uplift others, not squash them. She believes in women empowerment and supports other women in their journey, fostering a community where everyone can grow.
I am an empowered woman because I understand that my power comes from within and isn’t dependent on someone else not having power. She’s always believing in her own abilities and recognizes the importance of female empowerment and women’s empowerment for all women. Women’s empowerment is about fostering leadership and creating opportunities for all women to thrive. Women’s empowerment is a collective movement that drives positive change in society by encouraging leadership, mentorship, and advocacy among women. Public figures like Oprah Winfrey and Michelle T. Sterling exemplify women’s empowerment, inspiring others through their leadership, self-confidence, and advocacy for personal growth and mentorship. I don’t need to control or dominate others to feel significant. Empowerment is nurturing and inclusive, and it creates an environment where everyone can thrive.
Empowered Women Empower Women
In my experience, empowered women are builders. They are builders of dreams, of friendships, and of community. For women after 50, loneliness can be a significant issue, but engaging with other women can make a world of difference. Empowered women make other women feel visible and connected, and in turn, the empowered woman feels visible and connected. They are also creating supportive communities and support each other in all aspects of life, whether at work, in politics, or in their personal journeys.
I have experienced women who would rather tear apart than unify. If you have friends like that, I recommend reading my story about how to press ‘delete’ on friendships. Advocating for human rights, women’s rights, and gender equality is essential for real change in society. An empowered woman speaks up for justice and uses her voice to inspire real change in her community. Women’s rights are fundamental to achieving equality and empowering women to take leadership roles and drive social justice forward. Education and activism play a crucial role in advancing women’s rights both globally and locally, helping to break down barriers and promote lasting gender equality.
Where Empowered Women Connect
Are you looking for a community of empowered women? You are in luck, because there are many of us out there. Here are some ideas to find community as an empowered woman: Many women seek connection and support, even though most people may not realize how important these relationships are for personal growth and empowerment. An empowered woman makes decisions based on her own values and intuition, and while she may consider people’s opinions and other people’s opinions, she ultimately trusts her own judgment and intuition above all, maintaining healthy boundaries in her interactions.
Join or Create a Book Club
Reading and discussing books with others can provide intellectual stimulation and create long-lasting connections. A theme-focused book club is a fantastic way to meet like-minded empowered women. Whether it’s a class to learn negotiation, cooking, or even computer coding, there’s always something new to explore and someone new to meet.
Be a Hostess
Here is something every empowered woman knows: If you want something to happen, you can’t simply wait and hope, you take action and make it happen. If you want to attend social events, create them!
