Weekend Musings: The Future of Vacations, Rosh Hashanah & More!

Firstly, I want to say, to my Jewish girlfriends, L’shanah Tova. From my heart, I am wishing you a new year filled with sweet honey.

Fall Is On Its Way…

Life is full of changes and with those changes comes growth in all sorts of ways. Personal growth often requires hard work and discipline, as meaningful change rarely comes easily.

Take this time at home, this time of change, to re-evaluate your goals, dreams, and everything in between. Sometimes, a single thought can spark meaningful change and set you on a new path. Remember the quote from C.S. Lewis, “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” Age is just a number and does not limit our ability to grow. I believe in you, do you believe in you?

Ask yourself, “What is stopping me from being the complete version of me?” I once decided to make a change, and that decision made a significant impact on my journey.

Let me know what you come up with!

Has Coronavirus Finally Put an End to the Short American Vacation?

“Work is remote, schooling is digital, and social life is constrained. What better time to kiss the one-week getaway goodbye? Welcome to the era of extended travel.” – Town and Country

We live in a rapidly changing world, and this shift affects how we approach vacations and time off. I came across this article about if the week vacation in the USA will come to an end due to Coronavirus. I found their points of view interesting. Many other countries give their employee’s weeks of vacation a year, but not American’s…. however, COVID-19 could change that. People have long wished for more time off, and many times the topic of short vacations comes up in conversations about work-life balance. Personally, for those in the workforce, I think it could be nice to have more than one week to unwind. The difference that extended vacations could make in people’s lives would be significant.

A Moment of Clarity

As we head into the weekend, let’s take a moment to pause and reflect on our lives and the importance of making time for rest and relaxation. In the rush of the week, it’s so easy to let the days slip by without truly enjoying the little things that make life special. Whether you’re spending time with friends, watching a funny movie, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a good book, remember that taking care of yourself is not just important—it’s essential.

The weekend is a wonderful opportunity to focus on what brings you joy. Maybe you’ll take a walk with your dog, explore a new corner of your neighborhood, or try your hand at a new recipe you’ve been meaning to make. Perhaps you’ll listen to your favorite music, read a book you’ve been wanting to dive into, or catch up on a bit of learning—there are so many ways to enjoy and enrich your life, even in just a few hours.

Don’t forget the importance of rest. Sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is to simply take a break, breathe, and let your mind wander. This is your time to recharge, to reflect on the past week, and to set your intentions for the days ahead. What do you want to focus on? Is there a skill you’d like to learn, or a project you’ve been putting off? The weekend is the perfect time to start, even if it’s just taking the first small step.

Remember, life isn’t just about work and responsibilities—it’s about making memories, enjoying the moment, and living fully. So, as Friday rolls around, give yourself permission to slow down, enjoy a drink with friends, or simply rest and recharge. Take a bit of time to appreciate the beauty around you, whether it’s a walk under the moon, a funny video on YouTube, or a heartfelt conversation with someone you love.

As you enjoy your weekend, keep in mind the importance of patience and self-kindness. Learning, growing, and making the most of your time is a journey, not a race. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small, and remember to enjoy the process. Life is made up of these moments—let’s make them count.

So, what will you do to make this weekend special? Will you read, learn, laugh, or simply rest? Whatever you choose, I hope you find joy, peace, and a renewed sense of purpose. Enjoy your weekend, darling—you deserve it.

Whether I’m reading a physical book or listening to a favorite podcast or audiobook, gaining knowledge and fresh perspectives is always a highlight of my weekend routine.

On a lighter note, my computer recently decided to restart in the middle of a movie marathon—classic! If you’re looking for a cozy weekend, I highly recommend listening to a great podcast or audiobook while you unwind.
