The Buzz: What do you put in your morning coffee?

Darlings, today I have some exciting news! I’m trying something new on Saturdays on HoneyGood.com. We’re going to do a weekly feature called “The Buzz” where I get to tell all of you dear readers about the things I’ve been reading and watching. I’ll get to share all the tidbits and news that I’ve been following that just doesn’t fit anywhere else on the site. I think it will be a fun way to get into the weekend and I hope you enjoy it.

I love fresh coffee in the morning. It is an absolute must for me! But when I was skimming Readers Digest I noticed they wrote about a study in which they found that adding just one ingredient to your morning coffee will boost your metabolism and help with weight loss. The ingredient was cinnamon! How delicious! I think that is something I’ll try in the future because it sounds really good! You can read the whole article on the topic here.

I also read this week that another thing I just love in the morning might be improving my life. AARP wrote about a survey that concluded listening to music improves your life. My soft Hawaiian music certainly improves my morning that’s for sure. Do you have a lot of music in your life? Can you think of sometimes where you can add some music to your routine? You can read the story about the survey here.

I can’t get enough of all this chatter about the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this Spring! I’ve been in a real ROYAL mood so my husband Shelly and I watched “The Crown” on Netflix. Darlings, we loved it so much we finished the second season in just three days! Can you believe it? It is so good! I would recommend it to everyone! I am now absolutely in love with Queen Elizabeth. If you’re on the fence, click here for more information about “The Crown.”

On a more somber note, as 2017 is coming to a close, many places have been putting together “In Memoriam” of all the stars we lost this year. There were so many that had slipped my mind when I was going through them. In 2017 we lost Mary Tyler Moore and James Bond’s Roger Moore as well as many others. Vogue did a beautiful job putting this together and it’s worth going through and remembering all of the talented people who passed away this year. Click here to see the piece.

Glamour put together an interesting piece on 2018 fashion after scouring Pinterest looking for trends on the site. One of the things they are forecasting is berets. I love berets! What a fun trend! I hope they are right about this one. You can read Glamour’s whole piece here.

This week I wrote about beauty trends for women over 50 to watch in 2018. There were some really interesting ones, but I think the one I am most intrigued by are thick lashes. Forgoing length for thickness in your mascara may mean you have to reconsider your favorite brand if you want to jump on this trend. You can read about all the trends to watch here.

I need all the help I can get! I have a Midwest appetite, but live in a sleeveless world! So, I also put cinnamon in my coffee! It is wonderful! I French press every morning! Happy New Year!

I love what you did with this article. I also love going to Mexican restaurants where I learned to put cinnamon in coffee. It seems like we have lost too many wonderful people this year. Now we will just have memzories of them. Happy New Year and, please, keep giving us your wonderful posts. ????????

  5. Judi Zeleny says:

    Loved it!

  6. Janey says:

Well I thought it was great. We are into the second season of The Crown, and limit ourselves to one episode when we have time to watch it. We Are tempted to binge watch…but we like it so much that we want it to last!

I also feel that music can lift your mood. I have been remarried for thirty one years now, but moons ago when I was going through a sad divorce, music is the one thing that helped lift my spirits.

Happy New Year Honey and keep on doing what you are doing. Janey

    • Susan "Honey" Good says:

We could not stop ourselves from binge watching. We did not want the second season to end. Music is ‘music to my ears.’ Happy sparkling New Year. Warmly, Honey

Good Morning! I LOVE my coffee! I put Stevia in it and usually like a flavored coffee like hazenut. Sometimes I even add almond extract! It’s a perk my husband and I look forward to every morning since I do not eat until late mornings! One of my daughters gave us a new brewing system for christmas….no more pot and spills, just put the mug under the spout. Love it! RE: The Royals – I have been following for years…my grandmother is from England and I have some of her knick knacks from when she visited decades ago. My mom always gave me Princess Di books and items (there were a few who called me Princess Di, due to my name!) I loved watching the Crown and look forward to more seasons! For some neat background on Queen Elizabeth’s father – “The King’s Speech” is a wonderful movie, if you haven’t seen it! Have a great Sunday!

    • Susan "Honey" Good says:

I LOVED the Crown and so did my husband. We did not want Season 2 to end. We saw the King’s Speech. Fabulous story and acting. I buy flavored coffee, too. What coffee system, please. Happy New Year. Warmly, Honey

It’s the Hamiltion Beach Brew Station. My daugher it got it through Amazon, and she’s on a limited budget, so I am sure there might be even nicer ones out there…but we love ours and thought it was so sweet of her to get that for us! RE: The Crown – just a heads up if case you don’t know ye there is some nudity (milder, but in sexual situations) in season two. We were glad we weren’t with our young grandkids while watching it. To me a show like that should be for family (with history, etc…) and were suprised because that wasn’t an element in the previous season. I am sure the rating served as a warning, but we felt that it was unneccessary and things could have been implied. That said we continued on. We liked Season 1 more than 2 (for many reasons), and hope that season 3 they get back on track! Have you watched Victoria…I forget if it’s on Netflix or PBS? Anyways if you like the Crown, you might like that! Happy New Year!

I think I’m going to like this “Buzz” thing. Never to old to learn things…. definitely going to try cinnamon in my coffee. I have the 70’s music playing throughout my house when I’m getting ready for work and during the weekends. Makes me happy and I also dance to some of my favorite old songs!

    • Susan "Honey" Good says:

Fantastic. All of the women seem to really like the Buzz including me. Tune in every Saturday. Happy New Year. Warmly, Honey

  9. Bonnie says:

Happy New Year Honey! I’m celebrating the holidays in Hawaii where I lived for 45 years and still have family (I’m living in Florida now). Love the island style music, and BTW, cinnamon in my coffee is a favorite.

    • Susan "Honey" Good says:

Aloha! I lived in Honolulu for 10 years. Lucky you to be there now. Enjoy and Happy New Year.Warmly, Honoey

New to your sight , started in late September and enjoy your take on we women over 50.. I am 77, widowed of 15yrs, mother of one ,grandmother of 2, and greatgrandmother of 9, We live in Midwest so as far as styles go we are pretty conservative but love your ideas and interesting thoughts. As a retired 50 year hairstylist things change so fast with hair and skin care it is empowering to hear about the latest trends and saves me loads of time researching. A new challenge passed my way and i decided to take the leap. I am going to manage our
local National Depression Glass Museum much to your encouragement——age has no boundaries. Let y0u know how the year progresses.
Happy New Year!!!! May you and yours be blessed with love, joy and good health.
