Weekend Musings: Paris Fashion Week, Life Advice & More!

Getting Older, But Staying Vital

This past week I had time to reflect on getting older and changes in life. Having just moved out of our second home in California (one that we built from the ground up) last week, I had a lot of time to think. While there, and on the airplane.

We all change and grow, no matter how much we try to stop it with anti-aging creams, exercise, and sometimes more drastic measures.

There is something to embracing age and embracing change, instead of trying to stop it in its tracks. But, that can be scary. Very scary, especially for women. Personal growth and discipline can be hard, requiring effort and resilience, but the rewards are worth it.

Society puts so much pressure on us women to be and look a certain way. Then, when we age, we often feel as if we are becoming yesterday’s news… alone and forgotten.

But, there are ways we can stay very relevant. And not alone. One, we can choose to work on ourselves. I always suggest journaling out your thoughts and feelings, at least for 30 days. Engaging the mind through activities like reading, journaling, or reflecting can lead to meaningful self-discovery. Reading books on personal development, philosophy, or history can also provide valuable insights and foster growth.

Then, take care of yourself and your own mental health. Get your nails done, take yoga, take an online class, etc., and use these opportunities to gain new knowledge as part of your self-care journey.

Finally, join groups. Come join my online community on Facebook GRANDwomen with Moxie or find another group you enjoy or even take a class. I decided to take action for my own well-being by seeking out supportive communities and learning opportunities.

Find ways to express yourself and let your voice be heard. You are a vital part of this world, and you are loved by others. I guarantee it. And, I hope this helps you, darling. I am smiling!

Making the Most of the Weekend

As another Friday arrives and the week draws to a close, it’s the perfect moment to pause and think about how we can truly make the most of our weekend. Life moves quickly, and these precious days offer a chance to step back, breathe, and focus on the things that bring us joy, beauty, and meaning. Whether you’re looking to rest, connect with friends, or discover something new, the weekend is your invitation to enjoy the gifts of living.

Start by asking yourself: what would make this weekend feel special? Maybe it’s gathering your loved ones for a fun party or game night, or perhaps it’s taking a long walk in nature, soaking in the beauty of the world around you. For some, the weekend is a time to attend church, reflect, and find hope for the week ahead. For others, it’s about diving into a good book, catching up on a favorite YouTube channel, or listening to music that lifts the spirit.

If you have kids or grandchildren, consider planning activities that create lasting memories—whether it’s baking together, exploring a new park, or simply enjoying a lazy Sunday morning with pancakes and laughter. Don’t forget the importance of rest; sometimes the best gift you can give yourself is a few quiet hours to recharge, meditate, or simply do nothing at all.

For those who love learning, weekends are a wonderful opportunity to read, write, or even attend a virtual symposium or workshop. You might discover a new passion, pick up a creative hobby, or find inspiration in the words of a book or the wisdom of a podcast. The key is to stay open to new ideas and experiences—sometimes the most interesting moments come when we step outside our usual routines.

Remember, darling, the weekend isn’t just about checking things off a list. It’s about living in the moment, enjoying the company of friends and family, and making space for the things that matter most. Be patient with yourself if plans change or things don’t go as expected—sometimes the most beautiful memories are the ones we never planned.

If you’re looking for more inspiration, our blog is filled with ideas for making every weekend count, from creative projects to self-care rituals and everything in between. You’ll also find book recommendations, party ideas, and tips for living a life full of purpose and joy. Whether you’re reading, learning, or simply enjoying the present, know that each weekend is a new chapter in your story.

So as you head into this weekend, take a moment to focus on what you love, what you hope for, and what brings you peace. With a little intention and a lot of heart, you can turn these days into something truly special—full of laughter, learning, and the kind of beauty that makes life worth living.

Enjoy your weekend, darling, and remember: the best moments are often the ones we create with love, patience, and a little bit of fun.
