Has it started to feel at all like fall where you live, darlings? It sure has been beautiful here in Chicago, but the temps certainly aren’t as high as they were a few weeks ago!
But even as the weather cools down, don’t rush to put your summer favorites into storage just yet! Can your favorite summer pieces be worn right into fall? I think so! Here are some of my picks for summer into fall fashion for women over 50.
Summer Into Fall Fashion
Lauren Ralph Lauren Denim Shirt Dress; $125 online here.
Denim dresses are a staple transition piece. They are perfectly breezy for the extremely hot temps that come with the end of summer, but just throw on a blazer or a light sweater and a pair of flats and they also work for early fall. The key to transitioning a denim dress is to layer and then define your waist with a belt for some structure. Find a couple more options here and here.
Vince Camuto Prafinta Booties; $63.93 online here.
Booties are great with anything from dresses to jeans, and the camel color of these shoes makes them a great transition piece. Pair these with a summery white sundress in August, and then with a pair of dark wash denim in October.
Bagatelle Draped Snake-Embossed Jacket; $99 online here.
When you need a little bit of coverage for those cool end of summer nights and also when it isn’t cold enough for a winter coat yet, denim or navy jackets are a lifesaver! I love pairing them with sundresses in the summer and corduroys in fall. Shop more styles you’ll love here and here!
Betsey Johnson 1-Pack Leopard Tights; $15.30 online here.
Give your look a wild side with these leopard-print tights! This semi-opaque design can be worn with a skirt and an olive top for a cool but edgy feel for a night out on the town with your girlfriends. Don’t like animal prints? Find alternative designs here and here.
Rag & Bone Wool Fedora Hat; $59.50 online here.
A fedora hat is the easiest piece to transition. They are extremely easy to wear with anything from casual t-shirts to dresses to sweaters. I’d wear this one with a light summer sundress or even a plain white tee and shorts and then carry it into fall with a navy blazer. If you prefer a more neutral color, check out a rich chocolate brown option here.

Love the style items of clothing. Personally, I believe we do not have to dress dowdy. Love fashion and my granddaughters always compliment me on my choice of clothing and say I do not dress like other grandmothers.
You are a woman first. A grandmother second.Good for you. Warmly, Honey
