How To Choose and Use The Best Face Oil

With face oils becoming more and more popular, and more people realizing the versatility and benefits of these tiny bottles, it’s easy to get carried away in the long-standing myth that these skin products are equivalent to the fabled fountain of youth. In actuality, these so-called “anti-aging warriors” have a multitude of benefits for all age groups and skin types.

So, how do you get the maximum benefit from your face oil?

It’s important to consider a few factors before buying. Instead of buying a generic oil that makes a lot of promises, consider the following factors.

Can I Use A Oil For My Skin Type?

Whatever your skin type, oil will add an extra dose of health to your daily routine. The important thing to consider is to keep your skin hydrated, with face oil as the protective layer against the pollutants of modern-day life.

However, everyone has different skin types, and so do you. Either you have normal skin, oily skin, dry skin, or a combination of all three.

Oily Skin: The number one misconception of face oil is that it has no benefits for oily skin, when, in fact, the opposite is true. All you need is the right oil that can help balance your skin’s oil production, giving it a more even tone all over. Also, green tea face oil can help fight against acne.

Dry Skin: Now, who doesn’t like to feel hydrated? For anyone with dry skin, oils can be beneficial by adding deep hydration, which can be locked into your skin’s pores. All you have to do is use a face oil regularly so that you can reduce the usual sensitivity experienced by many people with dry skin.

Normal Skin: Skin normal? No problem! Considered the “lucky ones” for your non-problematic skin, you too can benefit from a face oil. In fact, oils with vitamin E can help reduce fine lines; or, try an oil that’s packed with vitamin A for a brightening boost to your skin tone.

“Having normal skin can lead to complacency,” says, Lizzie Garcia a beauty blogger at Thesis Help and Paper Fellows. “We can forget to think long term because our skin looks good right now. Face oils can help us stay on top of skin issues like dark spots.”

Combination Skin: For people who have all three – oily, dry, and normal skin – finding a skin product can be challenging since you need to account for all these symptoms. An overproduction of sebum is a common issue for combination skin and can make pores bigger in some areas of your face, and create an oily T-zone when the rest of your face is dry or even normal. A light oil like Jojoba oil is beneficial, as it won’t block your pores, and it slows down the overproduction of sebum.

Aside from knowing your skin type, ingredients are the next thing to know. By far the more natural the ingredients, the better the oil. Become familiar with ingredients names, including what to avoid. “This is food for your face. Always read the label. If you don’t know a particular ingredient, look it up,” says, Bobby Davis a health writer at Australianhelp and State Of Writing. A good rule of thumb is to buy from a reputed brand that has oils with 90% or more natural ingredients.

Use Your Face Oils Wisely

For optimum use, include your face oil in your morning and evening skincare routines. Oils and serums don’t really work well together. Try and ensure that all your products, including your moisturizer, are water-based for your oil to work properly.

One of the great things about oils is that they can fight bacteria in your face and prevent acne. However, this will only be true if you apply your oil with clean hands and never put your fingers inside the bottle!

For the best coverage, apply your face oil sparingly onto damp skin after cleansing. Applying to damp skin helps the oil lock in moisture and you only need a small amount of face oil per application for full-face coverage.

Face Oil Is For More Than Your Face

Face oils are one of the most versatile skin products you can use. They are one of the only products that are gentle enough to use around the eyes and can help tame eyebrows and frizzy locks.  As a part of your daily skincare, face oil gives a nice even base for makeup and adds a youthful glow beneath your foundation. Soak your fingertips in warm water and use face oil to soften your cuticles as part of your hand and manicure routine too!

Remember, know your skin type, check the ingredients, and use it wisely. Enjoy!
